This tasted like a really, really good hamburger with sauteed mushrooms, just crumbled and served in a bowl instead of a bun. It was fabulous. Just as good as going to a restaurant for a good burger, except cheaper and at home. I’m considering attempting to pile the leftovers on a big bun and add ketchup.
THIS WAS THE BEST. Seriously thinking about keeping a pitcher of this in the fridge all the time. I used Sprite Zero instead of regular Sprite and it didn’t seem to be a problem. We served it at Margaret & Paul’s birthday party and it was gone really fast. People kept asking me if there was more and, unfortunately, there wasn’t.
This was good, but I’m still trying to decide if it’s something I want to make again. It definitely wasn’t knock-your-socks-off good. It was also kind of annoying in that you have to fry chicken before putting it in the crock pot. Not exactly in the spirit of a crock pot meal, although on the day I made it everyone else was taking Sunday naps and I didn’t mind hanging out with a cooking project.
I think when someone linked to this years ago, they said something to the effect of “this is the best casserole ever, but you might want be cautious about the rest of the site and not just read/click willy-nilly.” I, of course, immediately started following the blog. And, yeah. It was very racy. Definitely not my thing. The casserole, though, is my absolute favorite. (It’s what we were making here.)
