I never thought I’d say…

...I don’t really read anymore. I request books from the library, pick them up, return them. Add things to my to-read list. Maybe go to the library’s e-book site. They helpfully auto-check-out books from your hold list now, so the whole borrow-return process can be managed without my ever even paying attention. I thought I didn’t read anymore … [Read more...]

Somebody that I used to know

I’ve been longing for comfort reads lately, and had some vague memory in the back of my mind of a Christian novel I read back in high school. It’s this long (loooooong, like 11/22/63 long) story following two generations of a family over 30 years and I found it comforting, even then, to stick with the same people for 700 pages. 2014 Reading Goal…?

go here Let’s get this out of the way to start: I just wrote this, in 2014, yet any reference to ‘last year’ means 2012 and ‘this year’ is 2013. It might be confusing, but…it makes sense to me, at least. I’m not so good with change. Both references are in terms of looking back on the year, not forward, so that should help. I’m just hoping to figure out … [Read more...]

August 2013 Books

I got kind of bogged down by nonfiction this month and ended up cramming in whatever fiction I could that wouldn't take too many brain cells (see: the last three books). Don't you hate it when all the nonfiction you've ever put on your hold list comes in at once? In addition to the three listed below, there are others I haven't even finished … [Read more...]
